Mouldy says:

i wonder how old Marbles really is

HKurban says:

Older than time itself...

Mouldy says:

whoa, w-what? Marbles DIES?! goddamnit, next time i insert foot in mouth, i'll do it AFTER catching up with what i missed. good god, marbles... dead? no way.

cwDeici says:

Awesome comic!

PS. Checked out Mirai Nikki recently. I highly recommend it to anime fans.

Zecc says:

I just realised that Melek Orhan is an anagram for Ken Halmore and Hank Morlee.

This means zip, but I thought I'd share.

MrGBH says:

That's odd. Marbles always struck me as being English (Kinda), so the word 'candy' wouldn't have meant anything to him.

Pizzasgood says:

I wish I had a Marbles when I was a kid. Shoot, I wish I had one now...

Shaggy says:

Love the hat trick :-)

Just read a couple of the old comics. Want to re-read the series now. Stupid nostalgia.

Maverick says:

What's great about this comic is not just the effect words that show up whenever Marbles is doing something (I always hear 60's Batman noises when I read them...Hat Trick was hilarious, btw), but Jack has the same look on his face from when he saw Marbles do this the first time.

<3 Becca says:

YEAH LIL GIRL JACQ! She is my hero and this totally makes up for all those comics that made me want to hat-trick myself. :D

Dualsaber says:

I love how Marbles seems really intelligent whenever we hear his inner thoughts, but he barely ever speaks out loud.

Art says:

There is a funny story to Jacqi's shirt. I have a younger male cousin that when he was little and couldn't read, we would tell him that his shirts said "I'm a little girl". Good times.

Art says:

Also, there is an Easter Egg in this comic. Did you see it?

Pizzasgood says:

Like a literal Easter egg? Because I see what is either a painted egg or an inconsistently colored candy at the bottom-right of the green candy that just came out of Marbles' mouth. But it looks more like just a two-colored candy to me - just seems odd because all the other candies of that type are single-color.

The only other thing I see that might qualify as an Easter Egg is the picture that used to be on Penguin God's ship.

Otherwise I've missed it.

Art says:

It's the rabbit painting. You win!

Acy says:

Why do they call you dead?! ... Oops. Marbles was never seen again ;

cwDeici says:

I don't think he can produce an effect like that. He seems to be limited to large amounts of small-sized objects or a few or a single medium or semi-large sized ones.

Kineth says:

cwDeici, I do believe he can produce such effects, I seem to recall Marbles being summoned by a letter asking him "why do they call you portal to..."

Kineth says:

It would appear that my memory sucks, can't find that particular comic :(

Joedang says:

Mmmmm, dat rabbit.

Draconi says:

times like this and the preivious comic make me wonder if marbles really is an idiot. maby someone asked him if his name was secret geinius?

villager says:

Does it signify anything that Marbles' eyes are reversed in the flashback? (White right eye instead of white left eye?)

Art says:

It means he is looking towards the right side of the screen rather than the left because I do not mirror characters correctly.

Josh_093 says:

Firstly i would like to say Art im a big fan of your work, i think all of your comic strips are great and i got into the series through the day it snowed

Secondly I was wondering when snow day is scheduled to begin. Also on the facebook page there are a couple of strips that are supposedly sneak peaks for the snow day comic, but they are being displayed already in the day it snowed. Now there is probably a highly logical reason for this, which has eluded me thus far.

And finally @Kineth the strip you're thinking of is in the fanart section and so doesnt provide adequate basis for your argument, but it is something that i have always wondered about so maybe Art might enlighten us.

Joe says:

@Josh_093
Thanks for the kind words! We were planning to do JAB on Mondays and Snow Day on Thursdays, but got disrupted by the Nashville flood. By the time we got things sorted out, Art was on summer break from school and we decided to do JAB twice a week until school resumes, and then make JAB Mondays only again, with Snow Day on Thursdays.

The actual update days may still change, but you'll see something more official in a week or two.

Art says:

Lemme see. The comics on the facebook page are used in Laugh at Us which a collection of comics from TDiS, JaB, IR and JaB2. When we get around to Snow Day we might reuse a few of the best TDiS's because there is a lot of garbage in TDiS that most people are not willing to read through to get to the gems. We'll get to Snow Day when we get to it. I thought I was going to have access to a tablet, and Snow Day was going to be a project that I would draw by hand for practice. The tablet fell through, so I'm determining whether or not I want do just do it with mouse and keyboard or wait.

As far as Marbles summoning. When obtaining items from Marbles via asking him why it is his name, the item needs to be something that would fit down his throat. The doppelganger tracking device is pretty much maxing out his size capacity.

The big thing to remember about Marbles is he is what I call Autruistic. He wants to help, but is retarded.

Also, just from a writing standpoint I do try to keep the "why do they call you ______" stuff to a minimum because if you are creative enough you can overcome almost all situations with it. Hence in this story Marbles is forbidden to give Jacqi things via name trick, because she filled a room with candy doing this when she was little.

josh_093 says:

Thanks for the update Joe

obviously when I said Art i was including the whole of team snow day and realise how invaluable C.P. stanford and your input have been in the production of this brilliant..saga.. for lack of a better word

Panhandle Press was a breath of fresh air and provided us with a great insight into more background, so thank you for that too.

josh_093 says:

@Art thanks for the insight into marbles and i was thinking of the strip shown in this link: http://thedayitsnowed.com/index.php?p=299

And i await snow day with great anticipation, whatever decision you chose im sure will be the best one, thank you and all of team snow day again

Art says:

Yup, TDiS 299 was reused in Laugh at Us. I really should have learned my lesson from "Jill of All Grades" and not announced Snow Day till I was ready to go. Announcing a specific comic before I'm ready to go pretty much assures whatever plans I make won't work.

Fodali says:

Why do they call you PONY?!?

Kineth says:

@Josh_093 Thanks! I thought I might be going crazy.

Zack of his katana says:

Eez about time someone abused marbles powa tht way.
Roam could simplify research and dev by sayin "hey advanced futuristic weapon! Y do they call you advanced futuristic weapon!" an then reverse engineer wat came out.
Personaly id say "why do they call you assorted styles of samurai armor!?"
